Consultation policy:

 

 

The Management and Staff of Riverton Childcare value the input of parents and whanau and desire to provide opportunities for parents and whanau to be involved in the decision making regarding their children.

Guidelines:

•  The Centre's “Open-door policy” is to be read in partnership with this policy.

•  The child's Health and Care information sheet will be read and initialled by all staff on enrolment.

•  The “Balloons about me” sheet will be given to parents when a profile is started for their child, to give staff an insight into the child's home life.

•  Information specific to any one day will be gathered by: U2 – parental requests can be written in the child's infant record books. O2 – messages passed to any staff member and written in the message book, that every staff member reads and signs before starting work.

•  Profiles will be available for viewing at any time and parents are welcome to take the profiles home to show other family members. Parental input will be encouraged in the profiles.

•  Planning will be displayed on the wall for parents to read and offer suggestions about, specific to their own children.

•  Family nights will be held once a term, providing opportunities for staff and families to spend time together. Opportunities to share decision-making will be fostered during this time.
