Acceptable use of computer/software :

 

 

The Management and Staff of Riverton Childcare are committed to ensuring that the computer and software are used for the purpose of the children's learning,

Objective : The computer and software use is to provide children with technological perspectives and challenges as they participate in new learning experiences. Also to support the aim that children will develop “the ability to represent their discoveries, using creative and expressive media and the technology associated with them” (Te Whäriki, Exploration, Goal 3. Ministry of Education, 1996, p. 88).

Guidelines

•  Staff usage of computer will be only to document relevant planning and observation information for children.

•  Photo stories will be documented via the digital camera and through the computer. There are to be recorded with the learning experience, educators comment and the child/ren's comment as appropriate.

•  Daily use of the computer will be assessed to ensure that all children are given the opportunity to explore this technology, while still ensuring they explore other areas of play available at Riverton Childcare.

•  Software introduced to Riverton Childcare will be assessed to ensure it is supporting children's learning.

This policy will be reviewed annually.
